A Secret Doorway few know of that has significant meaning to those of the Orthodox Jewish Faith in Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh

 If you go  west down  the Parkway East  I-376   past the Swissvale exit  you pass a secret doorway  you would never know is there .

Its just 2 steel poles with a steel wire run between them set about 20 ft back from the roadway  but its part of several such doorways created to help keep sacred the strict rules of Sabbath for Orthodox Jews in Squirrel Hill. its overgrown with trees now but they are still there

There is also thin wire which runs between telephone poles on Forbes Ave and Murray ave which denote these sacred doorways. Which are kept maintained by a Rabbi

But whats their purpose? 

 

 

Well Sabbath rules are very strict about not doing work so early  every Friday Night in Squirrel Hill 

You would see Orthodox Jews in their trade make hats , long black coats and beards  walking to the local Synagogue with their Prayer books  and shawls maybe an umbrella if its going to rain   so they are there for Saturday services  because once sabbath happens they are not allowed to carry anything outside their homes .

So then you have a dilemma how can a wife accompany her husband with a young child while walking to temple when its sabbath  ? Because she is also not allowed to push a baby buggy.

Well that's where the Sacred Doorways come in  the local Rabbis got together and agreed to create the doorways which create a virtual wall  there by making all of Squirrel hill and parts of the surrounding community's  as one home .

 Known as a Eruvs   this invisible wall now allows these activities during the sabbath.

it is carefully maintained and even a Hotline is established so Jews can report problems with Eruvs  and check to make sure the Eruvs are in full compliance .

A strange case of Paranormal Activity being influenced by a Old technology Industrial Power Source

 A customer of mine bought the old Watson Standard Paint Factory on Neville Island  which has since been dismantled and its now an empty lot. .

It consisted of a Large Brick building  built early 1900s which was added onto several times and 2 smaller out buildings 

Strange poltergeist type things where always going on in there .While they where temporarily storing materials in the plant before it was demolished. Workers did not want to go in to the old plant at night.

Many buildings on the Island are reported to be haunted as well. The island has a history of violent Work Strikes , Fires and Explosions.

 

In one case in the old factory a large plastic tote that is used for holding bulk liquids  front plate was heard crashing in middle of warehouse after being ripped off the tote by an unseen force .

In another a heavy box of Cat 6 wire holding a door open was seen sliding away by it self from the door
it was holding moving a total of 4 feet.

Pittsburgh Police where training their K9s in building and dogs did not like going into certain sections of the building as well. 

I called in Oakmont Paranormal Society OPS who investigated and verified paranormal activity's where happening in the building.  They recorded several EVP and at least 2 of female members where scratched or got sick feelings entering the building

The building did have a history of Fires and explosions and may have been what was causing the issues.  OPS also thought the happenings could have been of native American Spirits that once occupied the land as well.

But the 3 weeks before they started tearing down the building  My self and others started to rip out for reuse various building equipment and that's when all the activity mysteriously stopped 

When I shut off the large  480 Volt 3 Phase  Delta wound Transformer which feed  230 volt 3 phase delta  to all the paint making equipment.

 An industrial power source not seen much these days being replaced with 480 volt 3 phase Wye services in modern plants 

The transformer which made a very loud buzzing noise and which I found was not tapped properly 

was putting out a lot of electrical noise known a EMI  Electro Magnetic Interference . you could not play a radio or get AM/ FM reception in the plant .

Within 24 hours of shutting it off all strange activities stopped  workers reported not feeling the strange 

sense of some one watching them etc.

So where did all the activity come from and where did it go?  was it ground spirits disturbed by the harsh electrical noise ? 

Who knows but electricity was playing a part in what was going on.
