In doing so I often took US422 thru Indiana County and would pass this old house. sometimes when i took a shortcut off US422 in Strongstown

That brought about the legend of Hatchet Jack

The murders occurred  in 1973 by   Sherman Richardson who was Sherman Sr son   who was 31 at the time it  occurred on 355 Hahn Drive.

It all started after an argument over a glass of Orange Juice . Jack asked his sister to get him

and the 2 got into a tangle and after their father hearing the argument  came into the kitchen

and told jack he had 30 days to gather his stuff and get out he had had enough .

Mr Richardson had lost his wife only a few months earlier and his daughter came to stay and take of there mother and then her father

Jack in a fit of rage went up stairs got a 20 gauge shotgun .and fire into the heads of his sister and father killing them both instantly .He then used a chain saw to cutup and dispose of the bodies on the property near an orchard.

Jack was tried and convicted and eventually was paroled after good behavior   and went on to lead a normal life  and married and had a job .

He moved back to Pa shortly before he passed away at 72 years of age
