Yes the well known story about the man who saw the USS Eldridge disappear from Philadelphia and reappear during an electrical experiment in 1943 seems to be nothing more than one lonely mans imagination
It appears that in 1955 a lone guy Carl Allen who lived with his parents and was a prolific reader, concocted the whole story
Carl had a strange habit of writing notes on margins and liners of books he read and making up story's lines.

He made up the Philadelphia story while reading a UFO book tore out the pages and submitted them to author of the UFO book who then submitted them to Naval Research Center to verify the story and the story leaked out and the rest is History as they say.
Using the name Carlos Allende he claims to have witnessed the event from the ship SS Andrew Furuseth

Only problem both ships where not there at time the event played out and there are no credible eye witnesses to come forward and those who have have been debunked. In fact sailors who would have been on the ship at the time have been questioned and say it never happened.

After all these years as we have lost the majority of WWII veterans many would have witnessed it and some one should have come forward and no one has and you cant hide something like that. Many veterans as they near end of their lives start telling what they did no one has in this case. There are no records of mass injury's etc either.
Carl Allen Committed suicide in 1959 and proof of his forgery's came out in 1980.
But there are those who believe Einstein and Tesla where involved and it really happened well if it did it was not Philadelphia and not the the Eldridge.
