Strange Industrial Ruins with a Bizzare Mystery in E. Carnegie.

 E. Carnegie a forgotten neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh which Borders Scott Twp and Carnegie  Pa.

Its a mix of residential and Commercial structures and one of its main streets is Idelwood Ave.

and as you leave the residential area and start up around the bend you pass a set of  cyclone fence gates and mini guard shack that have been abandoned for man years and if you further explore you will find some strange concrete structures. 

It closed around 40 years ago but at one time it was a very active place.

It was owned and operated by Browning Ferris who had a contract with the city of Pittsburgh to handle its refuse and for many years trucks came down Idelwood and came to this transfer facility where they would offload garbage to large hoppers which where then taken by tractor trailer to browning Ferris dump some where in west hills.  when they lost the contract  it was locked up and closed. but shortly before it permanently closed a bizarre incident happened. 

Across the valley from the transfer facility is a plant which makes vegetable Oil  mallet Industries and in 1980  while I was working there as a guard for CPP security on a patrol as I was rounding the oil tanks that stored fuel oil for the large boiler system   I heard a loud shot ring out and bullet hit one of the tanks.

I looked across the valley to see an individual in a white jump suit with a riffle in his hands aiming at the tanks.  I immediately ran for a phone and called police  as did some neighbors who also heard the shots and Pittsburgh and Carnegie police responded but where not able to find the individual he had fled.   Police thought maybe was a disgruntled employee present or former but why wear a white jump suit which made him stand out?

Luckily that was only time he tried it and never heard of another incident involving the plant, which still operates to this day.

it could have been catastrophic to environment had he succeeded in puncturing the tanks or even possibly caused an explosion. But he was far enough away bullets just bounced. as far as I and police know he was not aiming for me .

 

 

Underground Restrooms ? Yes it was a thing back in the 40s.in Pittsburgh

 Thou they where already closed permanently when I was a kid in 60s Pittsburgh had at least 3 different locations where you went down a set of steps along the sidewalk  which went down and under  the street where you could use a Restroom.

They had latest modern fixtures and Tile walls and where Seen as a convenience for the trolley commuters and  public instead of having to as ask to use a businesses restroom .

Sadly They also had separate Whites only and Colored  only sections during the Jim Crow Period ,

Which was another major reason why they where built if you where colored forget asking to use the restroom anywhere .

Because the city failed to properly maintain them. They became havens for Crime, Filth and Vandalism

They where then sealed off and eventually dug out and or then filled in and paved over in late 60s early 70s

They where located at intersection on Butler & Penn Streets in lawrenceville 

Chestnut and E. Ohio Streets in North side and  Penn and Highland Ave's. in E. Liberty .

Everyone knows about Kecksburg UFO incident but did you know about one in 1897 in Danville pa.

 It was winter time when 2 young boys observed a Saucer shaped craft  land on farm property where they where playing .

as they approached the saucer it felt very hot  and as the neared it took off up into the sky  leaving behind a depression in the soil.

 Thou this is just a short little article whats strange is most UFO of that era where described as Cigar or dirigible shaped .

I can not find anything in local newspapers about it either .

A man so Evil he was not allowed to be buried in local Cemetery . The legend of Wellsvile Ohio Silver Crypt

 In Wellsville Ohio when you travel to the Spring Hill Cemetery you will find one crypt the Silver Crypt  which is down in the woods from the Rest of the Cemetery legend says it was the tomb of the most wicked man in Wellsville a Dr Silver who was a Warlock and as punishment him and his entire family where deemed unsuitable to be buried in the public cemetery to be forever shamed.

Now is there any truth to it?  nothing I can find to say why he was considered so evil seems more myth than truth. . Appears the crypt was part of the cemetery and forgotten when road to it was rerouted. 

Which is more plausible than the tales about it .

Just what did i photograph ? UFO

 It was a beautiful day this past February 25,2021 when i noticed on my way home the moon starting to come out around 5 PM so I took a picture of it along Allegheny River Blvd. In Penn hills Pa.  to share on FB .

When one of my friends messaged me saying what is the dark object you captured in photo.

Dark object? did not see it when i took the photo yet there it is a dark triangular object.

Many think its a UFO 

Its not a spec of dirt and far enough away from high tension power line to not be a coronal arc of some type so what the hell is it ? Secret Government craft? maybe .

I submitted it to MUFON  who said its a thumb print on lens . Really MUFON your full of shit took it on a cell phone and double checked and went back next day shot exact time and conditions  and was not there.

I was going to join MUFON but not if your going to play stupid and insult me . No wonder you are losing members .

Bruderhof a Small Religous Community in Fayette County Pa. you never heard of but should.

When  I was a kid in 60s and our family would take road trips on the weekend we would sometimes ride up thru Ohio Pyle State Park and on the way there was a very unique store which sold wooden toys .
The people who ran it where dressed similar to Mennonites and they where known as the Bruderhof
A very quiet and Peaceful Religious sect .

While the store is no more the community has grown into the Spring Valley Community  which took over they old Gorly Hotel and lake in 1957 and drained the lake in 1965 . The old hotel was torn down in 2006.
