Fire Stations and ghosts Seems old Fire Chiefs and Firefighters never leave their post.

All over Western Pa. there is talk among firefighters of possible paranormal activity going on in the Fire Station or Fire House one of the most famous being the Fire House on Troy Hill in City of Pittsburgh
Where mysterious goings on have been reported for years .

But there is also The Elfinwild Fire Station on Mt Royal Blvd  which is said to be hunted by a past member.

Excerpt from Three Rivers Haunts and History site

ELFINWILD VFD (Allegheny County) Elfinwild, near Allison Park, has a fire department with a chief that won't quit – Ralph “Obie” Obenauf. His ghost haunts the fire hall – and he can keep a close eye on it & his men, seeing how his grave is just across the street in Mt. Royal Cemetery. The firefighters say that Obie turns on lights and shuts doors, watches over them, and even mounts up behind the wheel of the fire truck. They can hear him walking up and down the steps, and even smell his favorite pipe tobacco in the firehouse. Ghost Stories of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County by Beth Trapani & Charles Adams III has a chapter dedicated to the fireman who wouldn't quit.

Activity at Penn hills station 224 in Point Breeze section of Penn hills where I once volunteered  is also aid to see  an active shadow in stairway. said to possibly be ghost of an old chief who passed of a heart attack at the station .

There has also been reports of activity at  Station 290- West Deer 3#  along Gibsonia road.
in West Deer Twp. Also believed to be an old member.

While some Firefighters and Officers are quick to dismiss all this talk and some discourage it others  encouage it.

What a great way for the volunteer depts to make money by having Paranormal tours for groups for a donation.

So are old members really hanging around ? you will have to find out for yourself.
